Junior Varsity Basketball Vs. Orange Glen

  • La Jolla Country Day School (map)

WIN NUMBER ONE.

I got the very first win of my JV coaching career last night! Seriously cannot explain how thrilling and special this game was. We won 54-0, but most of all it was HOW we won—with dignity, style and grace. It is this last part that lets me know I’ve been called to my great purpose in life...these women are the greatest testament to my coaching; that is such an honor! #inspiringgreatnessforabetterworld

The starters! This is my group that sets the tone for the game--they lead by execution.

Game Highlights

We prepped for success by having a fantastic, focused warm-up before the game.

Halftime score....we were so excited about the way we felt! INCREDIBLE TEAM EFFORT.

We played and executed so well that the only adjustment we made after halftime was to be aggressive without fouling on defense.

At halftime I also emphasized to my team that it's about the WAY you win--that was definitely the big lesson we learned in this game, as we made sure to be mindful of the way we handled Orange Glen in the second half.

However, I told the girls to maintain their same intensity and focus that they exhibited in the first half; I feel like when you continue to play hard against an opponent that you are beating, you are actually showing them more respect than when you take it easy on them or don't take the game serious. I have to give so much credit and respect to Orange Glen and their coach--they played so hard and competed until the very end.

The game ball goes to our center Jordan (34). Her improvement in 2018 has probably been the greatest case of exponential growth that I have ever witnessed. She worked so hard (and specifically) on her game, and it totally paid off in her performance…
