Breathing symbolizes your life and time on earth. How do you choose to handle it?
Believe it or not, I struggled with breathing a lot during my college and professional basketball career. I don't struggle like I used to anymore. It was the concept of consciousness that help changed my life. I have learned to try to be consistent with every breath I take, because I never know when it will be my last.
When I think about the breaths I now take in, I can identify a past selfishness that used to erode my life when I devalued the personal autonomy of my body's organs and the way they naturally behave.
Why breathe? Easy.
The world is worth living for, and the only way to survive is to breathe.
Once you believe this, there is nothing else that matters. Do exercises, go online to find the best information you can trust, seek counseling, call a doctor--just make sure you breathe, and more importantly, that you appreciate every breath you take. This is a daily lesson for someone like me, who struggled so much with this one idea.
Breathing is a lesson worth living, and thus a lesson worth learning.
