SWEAT Szn!

SWEAT Szn!

My soul changing experience at Phil Handy’s righteous brother C.L. Handy Jr.’s 2023 S.W.E.A.T. Training Camp last weekend at the Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California.

What Sweat STANDS FOR

The S.W.E.A.T. movement stands for Strong Women Executing Athletic Talents. The message is simple.

The message

Female hoopers don’t realize how much power they have.

From an outside perspective, it also means that female hoopers need more recognition.

Phil Handy and his entire basketball family has always been a huge supporter of the growth of the women’s game. Who run the world? Girls! No where on earth was this felt more than last weekend at the Sports Academy.

An event like this, with all of the support of a large global basketball community, shines more of a light on the progress, hope, and expectation that comes along with growth opportunities in the girl’s game.

Yes, Boys allowed

And the message to them is consistent to a wider viewing audience: if you want to understand the game of basketball fundamentally and strategically, watch girls and women’s basketball.

Who is SWEAT for?

Specifically, 7th-12th grade girls who want to put in the sweat equity and are prepared to get in the trenches and really work hard.

Girls who appreciate basketball and want to work hard and learn as much as they can in 2 days time.

I taught the girls how to lean down and learn how to get comfortable being uncomfortable with posture practices.

I demonstrated the balance required to execute the footwork and the finish.

My overall impression about this event is that there needs to be many, many more like it. That is my one and only hope to take away from this experience. Thank you Phil Handy for this invitation, and special shout out to my entire new basketball family network!

Q&A Time

But with a twist. I was the one with the questions and I got more than enough answers.

The highlight by far for me was closing up the camp with words of wisdom to share with the next generation. It is so important to me that this next group of girls understand that I am here for them, delighted to exquisitely serve their dreams, needs, interests, and purposes.

Sweat what you’re thinking; sweat what you’re feeling.

Why I sWeat

Sweating in this context is the righteous act of doing something about whatever you feel like being. Whoever you believe you’re becoming. It is your behavior honorably matching your attitude about your body and how you expect it to routinely move, respond and train.

How can you sWeat?
